China TOP 7 Brands TV Set Market Insights in Jun.2022

Supply Chain:

On the one hand, the stocking of "618" panels has basically ended. On the other hand, affected by the decreasing orders of global top brands, the procurement demand for panels of some Chinese brands decreased in May. However, some brands have continued to maintain a high level of purchases due to panel maker’s shipment and projects. According to the research data of Sigmaintell, the panel purchase volume of China TOP7 brands in May was close to 7 million pieces, a slight increase of 3% YoY. In Q2, the global LCD TV panel S/D environment continued to loosen, and panel prices maintained a downward trend. Although some Chinese TV brands will continue to stock up for the "Black Friday" promotional season, they generally maintain a conservative procurement strategy.

In May, the Chinese market demand was obviously affected by the epidemic, the economic vitality declined, the overall consumption was suppressed, and the market demand was in a downward trend, and it was difficult to recover effectively in the short term. In "618" mid-year promotion, Hisense and TCL performed well with their active market strategy layout. However, the demand in overseas markets has also declined due to factors such as war and inflation. According to statistics from Sigmaintell, the TV shipments of China's seven major brands in May were 7.7 million units, an increase of 12% YoY; of which 4.6 million units were exported, an increase of 13% YoY, and more of the increment comes from the recovery of demand in emerging markets such as India. Chinese market were driven by the active layout of the "618" promotion season of leading brands such as TCL/Hisense/MI, Chinese domestic shipments reached 3 million units, an increase of 11% YoY. However, due to the continued sluggish economic vitality and insufficient consumer confidence, in the second quarter the performance of the Chinese market is still not optimistic.
