In May, the overall global demand for LCD TV panels continued to be sluggish, resulting in a relatively low level of panel shipments. However, thanks to the recovery of small-size shipments, the overall shipments increased slightly MoM. From the perspective of end-market demand, under the influence of inflation and demand overdraft in North America, the performance of end-retail sales is sluggish, which affects the overall panel demand. The European market continues to be affected by geopolitics and inflation, and market demand is weak. As for China, both economic vitality and consumption have been affected due to the epidemic, and the demand for large-size panels during the 618 promotional season is limited. From the perspective of channel and brand demand, dragged down by the sluggish demand in North America and Europe, the panel strategy of global brands is mainly to control inventory, which affects the short-term recovery of medium and large-sized stocking demand. The inventory level of Chinese brands is relatively healthy, but the overall panel purchasing demand remains conservative due to a lack of confidence in the end-market. As panel prices dropped to a low level, the price elasticity effect of small size began to appear; coupled with emerging markets stocking up for promotions in the peak season in the second half of the year, the second-tier market demand for 32" panels recovered, driving the increase in 32" shipments. Overall, the global LCD TV panel shipment recovered slightly in May. According to research data from Sigmaintell, the global LCD TV panel shipments in May were 21.44Mpcs, a YoY decrease of 2.6% and a MoM increase of 4.4%; the shipment area reached 12.93 million square meters, a YoY decrease of 9.4% and a MoM increase of 0.6%.
